There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that lie just over the border from nearby Thailand, where casino wagering is not allowed. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent spot, a three to four hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a couple of restrictions requirements for gambling hall ownership. Ownership is required to be mostly Thai; still, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are ceremoniously open from 09:00 to 17:00, and although visas are apparently necessary to pass, there are methods around this, as is correct of most borders.

The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary boat gambling den, features 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga gambling hall never closes with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of twenty-one, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The original gambling hall in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, opened in 1999 and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty one armed bandits and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and 104 slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features three hundred slot machine games and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including eighty seven baccarat banque (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slot machines and 66 of the normal table games, as well as one table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a motel, is the Princess Casino with 166 slot machine games and 97 table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a multinational vacation and hotel complex that contains many amenities on top of the gambling hall, which has ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight tables.
