Cambodia Gambling Dens
There is a captivating story to the Cambodia gambling dens that reside just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling hall gaming is not allowed. Eight casinos are based in a relatively small area in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia casinos is in an excellent location, a 3 to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the two biggest wagering locations in Asia. Cambodia casinos do a huge business with Thai blue-collar workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The astonishing income accrued from the gambling halls ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than twelve and a half million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mostly Thai; although, financing sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 09:00 to 5:00 p.m., and although visas are for all intents and purposes required to pass, there are methods around this, as is true of most borders.
The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in the mid nineties, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving only 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, contains 150 one armed bandits and sixty tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with 42 tables of mini-baccarat chemin de fer, four tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and 5 tables at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains three hundred slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machines and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machine games and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, also a part of a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven table games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an international resort and hotel compound that highlights numerous comforts aside from the gambling hall, which offers ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
